RESOLUTIONS, Goals, or Hope

Don’t wait.  The time will never be just right.  Napoleon Hill

Are you a New Years Resolution person or goals person?  I don’t know what it is about the new year.  Maybe a fresh start?  As I recently read this quote, it struck me about time.

So it got me thinking.  Am I a resolution person or goals person?

When I read the word resolution or hear it, my mind goes right into reasoning that it won’t work or remembering resolutions from other years.  I don’t know if this is from failed experiences myself or hearing great stories of initial attempts and then quitting.

When I hear or read the word goal, I already have a good attitude.  Why is that?

As I think about it, I have had far more success with goals.  I have so many short term goals for the day, week, and month.  So when I hear the word goal, inside I feel like I can do it.  Resolution seems permanent and I know I will not succeed.

My husband and I each write hopes for the year and we share them with each other on January 1st.  Hopes or desires seem so much safer.  I know that we both look at them throughout the year and see if they are still hopes, desires or if they have moved to the goals category.  It has been fun to look at past years.  Some of the hopes have haven’t.  Some will not happen, but then there are some that continue to be on the list.

How about you, are you a resolution, goals or hope person?
